By the light of the Moon

This set of images of the full moon were taken in 2015 (if the date stamp on them is correct).

This first set of images are date stamped for July of 2015. They were taken in Endwell, NY

These last two images of the moon were taken in September of 2015. Also in Endwell, NY.

I am not certain that I shot these images in the "correct" way and there might be many tips out there on how to capture the moon more clearly. I am proud to say that I am impressed with the outcome. When you walk into a situation and have no expectation of the outcome you have no room for disappointment. Let the "Light of the Moon" guide you through a new situation and learn to be happy for how it turns out.

Walking Through the Woods

When the leaves first started to change and the tress started to loose those leaves we took advantage of the a nice weekend day and went walking through the woods. I took Mayze, our Boxer puppy, and my daughter and her friend. The purpose of the walk through the woods, besides getting everyone out to enjoy the fresh air, was to look for pine cones. I was on a mission to find them for some craft projects that I had in mind. We went to a location that we walk a lot, but we chose a path that we had not taken before. With the path twisting and turning and up and down hills we did not find those pine cones until the very end of the walk. The girls enjoyed the walk but said to me in the end "Couldn't we have just started at this end?" They thought process- if we had started at this end she would have found what she was looking for and not made us walk that long walk through the woods.

So, pine cones were our mission of what to find in the woods but they were not the only things that we came across on our walk. Here are three images showcasing what we did come across.

Since it was so late in the season I was surprised that we came across this little guy. There he was just laying in the middle of the path, I had to make sure that I paused and captured him. I could not decide which image effect I like best, so I thought I would share them both.

Not much farther down the path from the white caterpillar we came across the above image. You can tell that it has been there in the middle of the woods for some time. I was really impressed with how well it has stayed together. I had to pause and capture a few images of this as well. How often do you take a walk through the woods and come across a stone fire place?
I chose to share this in black and white because I felt that it show cased this rare and old find the best.

Determination- Motivational Quotes

I love the posters with motivational quotes on them. Several years ago I came across a calendar of them. I scooped this calendar up with the intention of creating my own images with the quotes on them. My previous post reminded me of this calendar and so I went looking for it. I was excited to find it and went to work to find some of my images to use with these quotes. So, the first one that I decided to do was my last post, since it was my motivation to find the calendar.

I bring you my version of

Determination....

I have decided that I am done putting the things off that mean a lot to me. This being said I am working towards getting this end of my business going this fall. With the Holiday Season fast approaching I want to get a lot of my nature photos edited and posted to be purchased. I am also looking into some craft fairs to have some of my nature scenes printed in several sizes to be purchased. The promise is always there as well that I will be booking Holiday shoots starting as early as mid October.
I am also looking to venture into do some crafts as well. I do not want to give any hints away as of yet but will soon share them as I get them created. My little one has also been looking into a jewelry business, which I would love to help her get off the ground.
So, stay tuned for all the DETERMINATION to come!

As always the photos that are posted on here are available for purchase. Feel free to contact me at kgrussellphoto@yahoo.com to discuss sizes and prices.

Flowers and Insects

Here are a few of my favorite images of flowers and insects. This first image was actually not a planned image. I was trying to capture the water droplets hanging on the petals of this Black Eyed Susan. I framed the image in my viewfinder and just as a snapped the button for the shutter the little bee zoomed right in. I have to say that it makes the image that much better.

"Water drops & a wee Bee."

 "Monarch"
I had taken several images of this butterfly on the flower when it finally opened its wings wide for me. Thankfully it stayed in place long enough for me to capture them open.

"Buzzing Bee"
This was another image that I worked to get. I was taking photos of other things in the area of this group of flowers. I noticed the bees zooming around out of the corner of my eye. As I moved the camera to snap a photo of the bee on the flower he zoomed off. I waited patiently and he returned and I was able to snap my photo.

"Dragonflies on the Lilly Pad Pond"
This last image was taken on a Lilly Pond. I was across the pond trying to get some great shots of the Lilly Pads (those are another post) when my daughter noticed the two dragonflies. I quickly made my way to the other side trying not to disturb them. They landed just so and I was able to capture this great image. You can tell that the dragonfly on the left was starting to move again because his wings are a tad blurry.

Remember, if there are images you see on here that really like you can contact me at kgrussellphoto@yahoo.com for purchasing details.

Welcome!

I have been thinking about starting this new venture for sometime. I have recently learned that life goes by way to quickly and have decided not to put this off any longer.

One of  my biggest passions in photography is shooting nature. I want to be able to share this passion with the world as well as my family photography. I am going to start this blog as a way to share this passion with the world. Some of the images that I post on here will be available for purchase. The images that I will be willing to sell will be posted with a comment  that they are available for purchase. I am going to offer the images in different sizes.

Here are a couple samples...
